5:51 Megan’s money mistake story

16:02 what’s in store for this month

What’s the worst day you ever had in your business? I can name a few. I was a five time award winning entrepreneur who burned out because I couldn’t give up control of anything in my business. Whether it was because I thought I could do it faster or because I thought I couldn’t afford it, I just refused to let anybody else and consequently, the business turned from a dream goal into a job I hated, and I didn’t know what to do anymore. In 2015 I closed my business, walked away and started a whole new  Life. But I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up after that, and I realized that what I really love to do is marketing. I love to talk about marketing and create marketing and teach other people how to create value based marketing initiatives that talk to their customers. I’ve done it for corporations, for entrepreneurs like you, bloggers and everybody in between. I’m here to help you create your dream empire that gives you the freedom that creates your life the way you want to do it. My name is Megan Brame. This Is Stop Sucking Your Business. Let’s go.

You guys, November hasn’t this year felt like both? I just sped a speeding chip into Lee abyss. But what does that even mean? Guys, I tried new coffee today, so you’re just gonna have to do this, But it’s crazy that it’s November. It is this time that has flown in, crawled at the same time and done more than the older I get, the more that happens, and it’s a weird thing to expect and still live through, you know what I mean? And oh, my God. This year I don’t have to tell you you’ve lived it. It has been a crazy pants year. And originally I had planned this month to be the money month. This was going to be the month that I brought on super smart people to come talk to you about investing in your business and learning the love money, changing your money mindset. And you know, it’s funny because I recorded thes before. Okay, so for if you’re not in the US, we were banking on a second stimulus check to come, and our president has decided that that is a political tool instead to use against us and long story short. People who were relying on a little extra to help them get by are not receiving it. And I don’t know about you, but my vintage line tanked the day that he said, No stimulus like I used to get, uh, music. I averaged about 180 sales a month before that. So, like about 45 sales a week, give or take.

Since that day, I have gone days without a sale on my vintage line. I have. I think October is clocking in at about I haven’t finished my book keeping it, but I think we’re, like right about 100 sales total, and that is scary. Thankfully, that’s only one of my lines of income. Or I would be terrified and I know that a lot of you are in the same boat right now. I have talked to clients and just people out on Instagram, YouTube and people are scared. Dude, I understand. You know, nothing has been normal this year and I know that a lot of you were thinking about Black Friday cyber Monday as like this is going to be the savior more than ever this year. And now who knows? Dude, who knows? And I don’t say that to scare you, but instead to help you hopefully realized that you’re not alone in this. A lot of people are scared right now. Business owners, employees, you know, freelancers. Everybody is in a very shaky life raft right now and so this month means the theme of this month, I should say, means more than ever right now. And I want you to, uh, one be okay with any money mistakes you might have made this year previously. You know, if you’re still working off debt or something like that, I want you to just forgive yourself because it can be super hard to feel like your mistakes don’t have horrible repercussions or that you’ll never be. I don’t know. You’ll never be through this and so I want to give you a story, my own money, mistakes and hopefully this misery loves company. So the past this year I had invested in a new business coach, and not that my old coach was terrible. I loved her, actually, but it was just this coach who I wanted to work with for a long time, and I just I was always afraid to invest the money, and I felt like I wasn’t ready but I don’t know. This year I felt like this year more than ever, I am ready to invest serious money into my business and to make it grow and this was a coach for coaches. But I liked her and we did coaching. But that’s not the main area of my business. My business is more about creating content and helping as many people as I can. I do want on one coaching to be completely transparent. It’s not my favorite thing to Do. There’s nothing wrong with it. I like my clients. Actually, they’re really inspiring. But what I like more is creating content for courses and books and things like that, like that  just what excites me. But I felt like after talking to her that she could really help me with growing that business and developing my platform. I said to her in the beginning, You know, I I know that coaching is a thing. It’s not my favorite thing to do it doesn’t light me up. It’s not exciting. But you know, what I really want to do is create content and I want a business. I want employees. I want you know, I’ll give you the perfect example. We started in the beginning and she said to me Okay, so tell me what your ideal day is. What is your ideal day? And I said, Well my ideal day is five hours of creating content like an hour of selling and a couple of hours of social or marketing or you know, admin and things like that and she’s like, You’re only gonna work eight hours a day and it’s all gonna be on content.

Hey guys, Megan here, how your conversion is doing there may be a little won’t want. I am here to help you with this exclusive free training about two phrases you can use that Just boost your conversions like kapow, But there’s a catch. That’s not right. I should have realized then that this was not going to work because, yes but it was the question. What is my ideal day? And I invested $10,000 to be told that I was wrong and to spend three months, three months burned out and sad and hating my business and feeling lost and not enjoying it. Not enjoying talking to her, not enjoying the process, you know, first it felt like, Okay, I’m just I have to get used to selling every day, and that’s true. I’m not a person that does sales dedicated sales stuff easily. It’s more like marketing more. I always have. You know, I could talk to you about marketing for days and days and days, but talking about selling it’s not my wheelhouse, it’s a lot of mindset stuff that I had to overcome. So I felt like ok, she’s just pushing me to break through this mindset and for that I am appreciative. But long story short like through into October, which was my last month with her. I was just like I hate everything. I can’t even look at anything in my business. I don’t want to do anything. I hate this. I hate all of it. And I paid for this feeling, you know what I mean? It was and I felt so dumb. I felt like I had just gone into a multi level marketing feel of like coaches making money from coaches. And all you have to do is get more coaches and, you know, like that’s what it felt like. And it’s not. That’s not the case. It’s just It was not what I wanted for my life in my business and it came through in this horrible feeling. Every month when you know, towards the end of October, I was just like, you know what? I’m good. If you can keep the money. I don’t, But this is awful. I don’t like this. This doesn’t make me feel good. And I can’t do this anymore, So it ended, And I, uh, I felt when I still feel like Oh, my God, I can’t believe I did that, but it was a $10,000 lesson in knowing what I don’t want my life to be and what I don’t want my business to be. And it was an absolute education of which, honestly, I’m thankful for I’ve that sounds like I know what that sounds like. And I know that you’re like Megan, you spent $10,000 on the three months of hatred. It’s true. It is entirely true. It’s also true that I could have spent a lot of more time and money on shit that I thought might fulfill me. This was a crash course three months intensive on what I don’t want to be when I grew up and what I want my business to be instead. So was it money thrown down the drain?

No, honestly it wasn’t it. Large investments like that don’t always work out the way you think they will and that I know. You’re like you could roll your eyes at me. That’s totally understandable, but I don’t regret it. I don’t regret that investment because I learned very quickly what I don’t want my life to be and what I don’t want to feel like And what I don’t want to make other people feel like. I don’t like the feeling that I don’t like that person that I tried to be those three months and so it is what it is. But my point is you most likely have invested in something that has not worked out according to plan or maybe you’re feeling like your business isn’t working out the way you want it to or I don’t know. Maybe you’re just on a higher echelon than all of us and you are looking down at me with just Megan bless your little heart. If you are that person, more power to you, you’re amazing. But if you’re like the rest of us who have done some things that didn’t work out the way we wanted them to or we’re paying literally or metaphorically the repercussions for that it happens Dude, this is about life. Life goes on. Money is not the end of the world. Money is infinite. You will make it back. I have already made it back. I wish I didn’t have To, but it is what it is and don’t ever feel like what you’ve done in your life has permanent damage. You might have made bad investments. You might have bought shit you didn’t need that. You’re still paying off. You might not have as much savings as you want. Your income might not be as diverse as you were hoping it happens. It happens. It’s all temporary setbacks. You can spend $10,000 on something that makes you feel bad and learned the lesson behind it. You can spend $5 on something that you never get rid of because you’ve spent $5 on it and just stare at and makes you feel bad or you could you know. My point is my long point is that money this month about money is not a month of terror. Black Friday might not work out the way you wanted to cyber. Monday might not work out the way you wanted to. The holiday season might be wonky. These things happen. It’s cyclical. There’s an ebb and flow to all of it. The only thing that has ever permanent is the way you let yourself feel and even that’s not permanent. You can have a pity party. You can feel bad about things that you’ve done with your money, but you could move on. And if you move on, that begins the rise that gets you out of the rock bottom, feeling like whatever you’ve done. Whatever mistakes you’ve made, they go away, they fade away, you bounce back. You always bounce back as long as you keep going.

So this month, Wow, this month, the people that I brought on are just incredible. There’s super incredible. Tangie Seals and Rebecca Bennett are going to talk to you this month about how to rethink your mindset when it comes to money and how to be okay with both your mistakes and moving forward. You know, Tangie is a money mindset coach and she helps people get out of debt. She was 30,000 in credit card debt, and she paid that off within 18 months. Rebecca Bennett, who will talk to after that she spent over $100,000 to grow her business and she goes into how she got out of that and how she began to pivot her business so that it’s now profitable. I mean, look, money is intangible. You know, we have physical paper money, but that doesn’t account for all of the actual numbers that there are out there in the world. So don’t let something that is intangible. Define you, your life, your business, your tomorrow, all the shit that happened yesterday. It’s yesterday, and it doesn’t have to affect your tomorrow. So I am here with you rocking this month. This is going to be a great month because we’re going to make it a great month together, right? I am super proud of you. I can’t wait to talk to you more this month.

I’m going to do a Q and A at the end of the month. So if you have any questions, head over to meganbrame.com/Askaquestion, it’s all one word. You can record a question, and I will answer it on this podcast this month. We’re going to talk hard about money or marketing whatever you want to get into. I am happy to talk to you about it. So go to meganbrame.com/Askaquestion, can record your question there, and I will get you the end of this month.

But in the meantime, check out these two interviews coming up, they’re gonna blow your mind, and they’re going to make this month your favorite month. I will talk to you guys soon. I love fantastic weeks.
